Works on Paper...

As I was working on this Holes and Threads series I was experimenting with cutting out and adding on; showing and hiding bits of paper. What could I cover up and what I could see through. It seems to me that this mimics how we present ourselves to the world. We only show the bits we want folks to see. Sometimes we are more transparent than others. Who will I be today? What colors do I put on? 

 

Things will transfer to us, memories, stories, ways to do things; we will learn. We will repeat behaviors, omissions and additions, until we make the mark that is ours. We will make our marks, perhaps with holes and thread, or with whatever else has been shown to us. They will be our marks.
